Hermann Circuit Court is the circuit court of Gasconade County in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Circuit court system.
About the area
The city of Hermann has a rich German heritage due to the large number of German immigrants who settled here. A place dedicated to maintaining the culture and heritage of these early settlers is the Deutschheim State Historic Site at which are located two homes built in the mid 1800's. The Pommer-Gentner House is an example of high-style German neoclassicism and it's furnishings reflect the earlier settlement period of the 1830's and 1840's. On the grounds there a period garden and a small half-timbered barn with an exhibit of 19th century tools. The Carl Strehly house, which was built in stages with a traditional German vernacular front, once housed a printing company that produced a German-language newspaper. The original owner of this home built a winery next to the house in which you can find one of a few remaining carved wine casks in the Midwest. In addition grapevines are still running the length of the backyard. Also at this historic site the site are a half-timbered barn with a display of 19th-century garden tools, period gardens, and several recently acquired buildings in which are located the office, library, and gift shop.
