Mountain View Municipal Court

US 60, SR W and SR 17 are the major roads running through Mountain View.

The settlement of Mountain View came about around 1866 when the first store was built here. At the time the people who lived there used a money called a "Klondyke", resembling a metal the mills no longer used and barter since money was in short supply in the area. It was not uncommon for the owner of the store to drive to Rolla in wagons with hogs, he had received in trade, and bring back supplies such as salt, sugar, soda and coffee beans. Each year, Music in the Park is held every Saturday during June and July at the amphitheater in Veterans Park. Attendees are invited to bring chairs or blankets or sit on one of the benches and bring food and drink for a family picnic. There are pictures on the sides of buildings around town painted by a local woman. She even painted a cinder block building, in one of the city parks, to look like a log cabin and to most folks it looks like a log cabin. The city has a community center, swimming pool and Family Youth center with a gym for skating, volleyball and basketball, concession area, multi-purpose room, child care room and weight room.
