About the area
This city is probably best known as the hometown of Harry S. Truman the 33rd president of the United States. It is possible while visiting this city to walk through his neighborhood, see the soda fountain where he had his first job and see the sites where he met his wife, went to school, had an occasional glass of whiskey and played penny-stakes poker. There are two places you might want to visit related to this president. The Harry S. Truman Library and museum has exhibits concerning The Presidential Years, an exhibit featuring two decision theaters with audio and video programs and artifacts related to the issues and events surrounding the Truman Presidency; and His Life and Times, focusing on his pre and post presidency which includes 10 audio visual stations and a children’s area. The museum also has a replica of the Oval Office. The Truman Home is where the 33rd President and his wife Bess lived before and after his presidency.
