About the area |
This area which originally home to the Osage Indians was settled as lead and zinc mining community. Around 1855, two brothers from Tennessee settled in the area that eventually became Duenweg followed shortly after by two of their nephews who also settled in the area. It wasn't until around 1894 that the investor who gave his name to the town opened the Silver Dick mine and the mining camp gave rise to the city. Apple Park is located on the site where The first public water well for Duenweg was drilled and the old water tower once stood. |
