About the area |
The city was incorporated around the beginning of 1887. Festus brings music to its residents through the presentation of two events; the Concert in the Park series held on Sunday evenings throughout June at Crystal Park and Sunset Park and sponsored by the Twin City Chamber of Commerce and the Blues/Funk Event held on a Saturday in mid August at West City Park fairgrounds. If you enjoyed the Gong show which ran for many years on TV; you will happy to know that the city has started an annual Festus Gong show held on a Saturday in mid July at the Sunset Park grand stand. This show starts with a talent show and then proceeds to the competition part. The city has seven parks with Sunset park and its bird sanctuary and West City park and its baseball and softball complex included in that group. The other parks, as well as Sunset park, have pavilions, playing fields, tennis court, basketball courts, volleyball courts and playground equipment. |
