The Great Pershing Balloon Derby is held in Brookfield during Labor Day weekend. This is an exciting event and balloon souvenirs are available at the Myron Peacher Memorial launch site. You can watch the John Petrehn Memorial Cup Flight, Basel Downey Memorial Launch Site Nite Lite and attend the Balloon Derby Dance at the Elks Lodge. There are balloon flight on each of three days and its exciting just to the watch the inflating of balloons of all different shapes. A great fall event here is the Oktoberfest in the Park held what else but in October at Brookfield Twin parks. There is much to and see at this festival. from the baby show to the Pumpkin carving contest, show of cars and antique tractors, Pumpkin Pie in the Face, Pumpkin pie bake-off, barbeque cook-off and live entertainment. |
