Eminence Circuit Court is the circuit court of Shannon County in the Thirty-Seventh Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Circuit court system. Hearings for city ordinance and traffic violations in the cities of Birch Tree (US 60 and SR 99), Eminence (SR 19 and SR 106) and Winona (US 60 and SR 19) are held in this court.
About the area
When Eminence was founded it lay next to Round Spring. It was burned to the ground by Union soldiers during the Civil War. It was then moved to its present location because of its central location in Shannon county and because it was the only land with a clear deed available and was therefore purchased for the city. When the Missouri Mining and Lumber company established a sawmill in the city it started an economic boom and the population grew to close to 12,000. The city has two annual Ozark Rivers Bluegrass Festivals, one in June and one at the end of August. They are held at the new Nick Seaman Memorial Ozark Rivers Music park, which is located a few miles West of town, and have performances by national, regional and local bands. There are also workshops, a band scramble, contests and “Kids on Stage” performances.
