About the area |
Although his ancestors settled in Potosi, after emigrating from France, the founder of Desloge purchased mining claims here and in Bonne Terre. After fire destroyed his plant in Bonne terre, he decided to rebuild in Desloge, clearing land and erecting company houses for his workers. He also built a concentrating plant in Desloge around 1892. The city's main park, Desloge City Park, has an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic tables, barbeque pits, an amphitheater, a walking and jogging path, restrooms, pavilions, a gazebo and playground equipment. The city's other park, Brightwell Park has baseball diamonds which vary in size to accommodate players of different skill levels and ages. |
