About the area |
When Leadwood was first established it was known as Owl Creek and around 1916 was owned by the Bonne Terre Farming and Cattle company. A branch of the Mississippi River & Bonne Terre Railroad ran though the town with a small depot. About one year later it was a thriving town with a good number of successful businesses and residences with more residences being built. |
