| About the area |
Through the generosity of a Licking native, who donated his collection of fine art and artifacts, the Texas County Museum of Art and History was established. Animal and human figurines, pottery, jewelry, furniture, tools and books are some of the artifacts from North American Indians and Asian, African and European countries. There are over fifty pieces of framed fine art displayed in the museum which consist of original paintings by such artists as Picasso, Charles Russell, George Catlin, Juan Gris, Willie Baumeister and Joan Miro. The city of LIcking along with the sponsorship of the Chamber of Commerce present two annual shows worth seeing. The Car show is held along route 63 in early July and the Future Farmers of America Horse show is held at the Licking Rodeo Grounds in the beginning of September.
