The generosity of the people in Shaw is evident in the Prom Dress Shop at Shaw Middle School. The shop offers prom dresses, shoes and accessories so that those who might not have the financial means to buy a dress and a ticket to the prom could afford to go. David "Honeyboy" Edwards, a noted blues artist and winner of the Mississippi Governor's Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2010, is a native of Shaw. This blues artist is one of the few practitioners of the acoustic Delta blues style still around. |
