Hernando has four Historic Districts which are on the National Register of Historic Places and the historic Water Tower built in the 1920's. The Hernando Courthouse Square district consists of around 18 buildings and one outbuilding which face the historic courthouse square of Hernando and which date from the 1890's. The Hernando Commerce Street district consists of more than 25 buildings and structures representing the architectural styles of private residences from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Hernando South Side district has approximately 30 structures in it dating from around 1850 and on. The Hernando North Side district consisting of dwellings dating from the 1870's to the 1940's.
