Moss Point Justice Court

Moss Point Justice Court is the main branch of the Jackson County Justice Court .

Although there was a nearby French colony at the end of the 17th century; it was 100 years before there was any sign of activity in the area of Moss Point. However the French, Spanish, and British navies used the forests around Moss Point to obtain the lumber used in building the spars for their sailing war ships. After 1812 sawmill businesses were established in the area producing lumber which shipped to ports in Europe, Mexico, South America, and Cuba. Although Union troops brought a halt to the sawmills during the Civil War; the lumber and sawmill business revived after the war and at the turn of the century nine saw mills were operating in Moss Point. This is city that believes in fitness. In addition to several ballfields its parks have tennis courts and jogging tracks as well as a riverfront boardwalk.
