About the area |
It's not at many festivals that you will find more than 250 booths to shop at; but you will at the Mississippi Pecan festival held annually in September near Richton. While you attend you can rest in the shade of large pecan trees at the orchard site and listen to live music. The kids will enjoy the demonstrations of butter churning, biscuit making, cow milking, lye soap making and corn shelling. There is also a Draft Horse Exhibit and Demo and the arts and craft show has demonstrations of wheel pottery, basket making, wood carving, knife making, bowl turning, soap making, an herbalist and a chainsaw artist. In keeping with the theme of the festival, the last
day features a pecan bake-off competition.
