About the area
Blaine county was formed from a part of Choteau county and originally included the Western part of Phillips county. The Fort Belknap Indian reservation is located in the Southeastern part of the county. Most of the land in the county is used for agricultural purpose; with over 2,300,000 acres of land out of more than 2,700,000 acres used for farmland. The Southwestern part of the county is occupied by the Bears Paw mountains. The town mascot for Chinook, the county seat, is the Sugarbeeter because of the long history with sugarbeets and the town's posittion as one of the main producers of sugarbeets.
