About the area

Parts of Park and Yellowstone counties were taken to form Carbon county around 1895. The Southwestern part of the county is home to part of the Beartooth mountains including the highest in Montana. Many tourists come to this county to experience the hiking, camping, skiing, golfing, hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities provided by these mountains.
