At one time Daniels county was a wild place with the visitors to it consisting of Indians following the migrating buffalo, fur traders and the outlaws seeking refuge from their crimes. At the beginning of the 20th century, however, settlers began coming to the area. When the the Great Northern railroad reached into the county, a large number of homesteaders grabbed the free land and tried their hand at dryland wheat farming. |
