Anaconda Court

The Anaconda Court facility houses the Anaconda City Court and the Anaconda Justice Court which are both in the Third judicial district of Montana. Roads running through Montana county include IS 90, SR 1, SR 43, SR 48 and SR 569. SR 1 runs right through the heart of Anaconda.

Copper and the Anaconda Copper Mining company brought people and wealth to this city as the need for this metal exploded with the growth of the use of electricity. A remnant of this industry remains in the form of the old Anaconda Copper Company smelter stack, built around 1919, standing at about 585 feet in Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park. Although visitors can not enter the park it is possible to see this Goliath from the junction of Park Street and Monroe Street. The Copper Village Museum and Arts Center is located in the former Anaconda City Hall, circa 1896, and includes a historical museum, archives and an art center. The museum also hosts traveling exhibits from around the country. Mountain goats, vagrant shrews and bighorn sheep can be seen in Lost Creek State park, to the North, where Lost Creek Falls' 50-foot drop provides a spectacular scene. The park also has available spots for camping, fishing, picnicking and bicycling. You might want to take your kids to catch a sight of the fish hatchery in Washoe park or enjoy the playground there while listening to the sounds of Warm Springs creek which runs through the park.
