About the area

There are some cultural events taking place each year in this city. The annual Art in Washoe Park festival in July features juried booths with fine art, photographs, sculpture, stained glass, wood decorations and furniture, clothing, jewelry, candles, wreaths and antler art. You won't go hungry either. The offerings include Lebanese food, barbecue pork, sausage and kraut, Chinese food, desserts, pizza, huckleberry products, chicken cilantro rolls, Cajun dishes, turkey legs, steak sandwiches and Italian sausages. For the ear the festival has several bands playing their own style of music. The annual Alive After Five festival and concert series is held at Durston Park every Friday evening but one starting at the beginning of June. There's food, classic cars and live music in addition to the kid's bouncy castles and vendors offering items such as glassware, scarves and purses for sale.
