Whitefish Municipal Court

Whitefish Court is in the Eleventh judicial district of Montana. US 93 comes to the center of Whitefish and makes an abrupt turn. It meets SR 40 in the southern part of town.

Whitefish is basically a recreation town. More than fifty years ago the residents of this town decided to make it a recreation destination. Through their efforts the Big Mountain resort and Whitefish Lake Golf club were created. The aerial adventures park at the resort is a fun filled experience. Swimming at the Whitefish City beach on Whitefish lake provides many of the visitors with a relaxing day in the sun. The annual Oktoberfest fundraiser at the Whitefish Community center in mid September features German food, music and door prizes. The annual Whitefish Winter carnival is based on a local story of the Norse god Ullr and some of his followers who came to Northwest Montana at the Big Mountain, looming over Whitefish. They were set upon by a fierce band of snowmen called Yetis, but prevailed. Whether you believe this story or not you can enjoy the home-town parade, penguin plunge of hearty souls into the lake water, yetis, vikings, snow sculptures, and non-stop parties. Horses and skiers take part in the Ski Joring races where skier’s are towed behind horses over a race course.
