About the area

Liberty county was created around 1920 and is now primarily an agricultural state. What you can expect to see as you travel through the county is large fields of of wheat and barley along with miles of grazing for cattle in the Sweetgrass Hills and on the plains. Chester is the county seat of Liberty county. Tiber Dam/Lake Elwell to the Southwest of Chester is a popular place with residents despite the drive because of the possibilities it offers of boating, skiing, camping, swimming and fishing in the Summer and ice fishing in the Winter.
