About the area |
At one time before Valier existed it was part of the 7 Block Ranch which stretched from Conrad to Fort Benton. Around 1909, 1,000 head of cattle were sold to help finance the new Lake Frances project. Many jobs were created as a result of the construction of Lake Frances and very soon the town of Valier began to grow along it's shoreline to support the workers with businesses and facilities. Lake Frances Recreation area lies to the South of Valier and is available for boating, fishing and camping. There are groomed campsites with electricity, picnic tables and fire pits in addition to dry campsites. There are also boat ramps, a fish cleaning station, an RV dump station with potable water fill up, childrenâs playground and grassy area for volleyball and badminton and the Firemanâs Pavilion is available for rental. Visit one of the trails to see shorebirds and waterbirds including the Great Blue Heron. There are tow parks in town; Main Street park with gardens, gazebo and picnic tables and Miller park, a large grassy area. |
