About the area |
The Treasure County 89'ers museum consists of an old renovated drugstore building and the Yucca Theater/Manning Home located across the street. The theater is on the National Register of Historic Places. You will find many things in this museum in the displays and exhibits associated with the history of the area. They include subjects such as fossils and dinosaurs, the Crow people, Lewis and Clark, fur trapping, Indian Wars, the coming of the railroad, steamboats on the Yellowstone, law and order, ranching, farming, homesteaders and education. Kids might be interested in the restored soda fountain from the drugstore that is used on special occasions. Associated with more current history is the exhibit about on local rancher and farmer, astronaut Frank Borman who flew on Gemini 7, and was the mission commander for the Apollo 8 flight around the moon. |
