About the area
English Quakers were the pioneers and first settlers in this territory irrigated by the Haw and Eno Rivers of volcanic origins and a very interesting surface of several coal deposits, rocks, and irregular topography, which used to be part of Orange County till the 1770s. Chatham County was named after Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and it is not served by any Interstate Highway, so you will need to take the highway US 64, US 421, and/or US 15-501 or you may fly to this territory landing at the Siler City Municipal Airport. Today, more than 49300 people have made this territory of almost 710 square miles of extension their home.
