About the area

With more than 525 square miles of territory, Currituck County was born as a precinct of Albemarle County and today is home of more than 18150 people (90% White Non Hispanic). This community member of the Albemarle Commission regional council of governments shares border line on its northern frame with Chesapeake and Virginia Beach Counties in Virginia State; while its southern and western corners are "protected" by the lands of Dare and Camden Counties. Some of the settlements in this territory are Barco, Waterlily, Corolla, Shawboro, Grandy, Carova Beach, and Moyock.
