Great universities, amazing strategic location, minor European influences, and a very proactive local government constitute the columns of Franklin County founded back in the late 1770s from territories of Bute County and named after Benjamin Franklin. This territory of 495 square miles of extension is called home by more than 47250 people and it is the proud father of ten townships and five towns including Centerville, Youngsville, Louisburg (county seat), and Bunn. The border lines of this land are delimited by Warren, Vance, Nash, Granvillem Johnston, and Halifax Counties.
