About the area |
Granville County was founded in the 1740s and was formed from territories of Edgecombe County. Granville, in turn, gave birth to Orange, Bute, and Vance Counties. This community member of the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments has more than 535 square miles of territory and it is home of 48500 people having a population density of 91 people per square mile. The northern limit of Granville County is constituted by Mecklenburg County in Virginia State, while the eastern border is represented by Vance and Franklin Counties; on the northern "sidewalk" we will find Person and Halifax Counties. Finally, the southern frontier is formed by Franklin, Wake, and Durham Counties. Six cities and nine townships are the puzzle pieces of Granville map. |
