About the area |
Named in honor of Col. Thomas Robeson (man of the Revolutionary War), this community of more than 950 square miles of territory coming from portions of Bladen, Hoke, Scotland, and Cumberland Counties. With an estimated population of 126500 residents where approximately 40% corresponds to Native American, 30% White Non Hispanic, 25% African American, and the remaining percentage is divided between Asian, Hispanic, and other racial groups. Lumberton, home of the Lumber River State Park and the largest city of the Lumberton-Laurinburg area; is the county seat of Robeson County. And it is located on the course of the Lumber River, was founded in the 1780s, and is the home of more than 20500 people. |
