Created in the 1840s, this territory is the "Falcons" (Pfeiffer University) and "Eagles" (Stanly Community College) with an estimated population of more than 58000 people and close to 405 square miles of extension. This community nested in the arms of Anson, Union, Davidson, Rowan, Cabarrus, and Montgomery Counties was named after a great man who served his state at the North Carolina House of Commons; John Stanly of New Bern. Some of the communities out of the ten townships, ten incorporated towns, and two unincorporated cities in this county are Almond, Harris, Tyson, Palestine, Stanfield, and Oakboro; all of them served by sixteen elementary schools, four middle schools, and seven high schools.
