Danbury is the county seat of Stokes County founded in the late years of the 18th century and formed from territories of Surry County. When you visit this land, you will discover attractive natural blessings and rich history wherever you turn your head. This land of more than 450 square miles of extension is home of more than 44700 residents according to the latest census performed in this area named for John Stokes, an American Revolutionary War captain. Nine townships, three towns, and thirty-five unincorporated cities are surrounded by the territories of Patrick (VA), Rockingham, Surry, Henry (VA), and Forsyth Counties; where most of the communities are part of the Yadkin Valley wine region.
