Hettinger District Court is alos known as North Dakota's Southwest judicial district court of Adams county.
About the area
A really wonderful place to visit in Hettinger is the Dakota Buttes museum, whose four refurbished buildings and outdoor exhibits represent over a century of life and times in Adams County and Southwestern North Dakota. There are things here such as a rare, horse-drawn fire truck and hose cart, a collection of early Twentieth Century farm machinery, railroad memorabilia, early and mid-century vehicles and wall displays of Bucyrus, Haynes, Hettinger and Reeder. In addition there is the Titanic Survivor display, Judge Sonderall’s Land Office, a recreation of the early Adams County Record building, the Hall of Flags representing the homesteaders’ ethnic backgrounds and a full-sized buffalo bull mount in recognition of the many bison who once roamed the Northern Great Plains. A few miles East of Hettinger is an overlook of the site of the last great Buffalo hunt by the Teton Lakota Sioux Indians. Mirror Lake park at the South end of Main street has camping facilities with full hook-ups, a bandshell with dance floor, motorless boating, fishing, a playground area, a walking and running path around the lake and the Centennial Fountain.
