Bismarck District Court

Bismarck District Court is the district court of Burleigh county and is in the South Central judicial district of North Dakota

Burleigh County was established around 1873 and had an inauspicious beginning. The Indian agent of the Dakota territory whose time in office was noted for graft, corruption and nepotism when tasked with having the Northern Pacific railroad grading built from East of Bismarck to the river, established a town, named after himself, where the railroad would cross the river. The railroad suspecting his inside knowledge and disliking his placement moved the railroad to the bluffs where Bismarck now stands. The Bismarck Civic center with its arena exhibit hall and meeting rooms is a place where sporting events, entertainment features, conventions, and consumer and trade shows are held.
