Emerado Municipal Court

This court is in session once a month. US 2 running through Emerado meets CR 3 which runs through the entire length of town and meets CR 4 which runs through the center of town.

When the railroad came to Emerado around 1882, the Hancock homestead already existed and a town formed there. The site was plotted by its owner, a settler from Exeter, Ontario, Canada, and another settler from Pennsylvania. Soon afterward a blacksmith, grocery store, two hotels, a farmers elevator and hardware store were established in the town. By the 1890's many other businesses came to the town including a mill. a fire in the Spring of 1928 destroyed over 20 structures including the church, elevator, town hall, businesses and many homes and barns. The church, elevator, hall and one home were rebuilt. The town has a community center which in addition to being the place for gatherings is available for rental.
