New Leipzig Municipal Court

This court meets on an infrequent basis. SR21 and SR 49 pass together through the very tip of the Northern part of New Leipzig.

Prior to 1910, the Northern Pacific and the Chicago, Milwaukee, & St. Paul railroads built two railroad lines westward from Mandan, North Dakota and McLaughlin, South Dakota. In the Spring of that year the Milwaukee Land Company of Chicago laid out a town site. The German-Russian residents living in nearby Leipzig, desiring a location near the railroad soon moved there and when a post office was established it was called New Leipzig. A company established at that time, Hertz Brothers Hardware, is still doing business in Grant county. With its German-Russian heritage you know this town would hold an Oktoberfest. This annual event, North Dakota's first authentic Oktoberfest, is held here on the last weekend in September.
