About the area

The Steele Community Center besides housing the City Auditor's Office, the Steele Historical society and museum also is the home of the Steele's Community Auditorium where most residents go all through the year to see performances and exhibits. In recognition of local wildlife and the fact that central North Dakota is a migration route and summer home for numerous species of birds; a Sandhill Crane towering over 38 feet was erected and is nested at the Northern tip of Steele. This area is considered to be one of the best birding destinations in North America due to the thousands of birds which make it a stopover during their migrations.
