Napoleon Municipal Court

SR 3 runs through Napoleon but meets with SR 34 which brushes by the Northern edge of town.

Napoleon was founded in what was then still the territory of Dakota around 1884. It took the first name of a pioneer store keeper and president of the townsite board whose building was the beginning of settlement in Logan County. Settlement in this city did not take off until the arrival of the railroad around 1898 with materials and crews to construct a depot, water tank and livestock pens. Although Napoleon was not selected as the county seat, a court decision reversed that decision. The Logan County Historical Society museum is housed in one of the of the early schools in the area. There are other buildings in the museum complex including the first house in Logan county, church, blacksmith, print and harness shops as well as antique machinery. In Napoleon park you will find a heated swimming pool, tennis, sand volleyball and basketball courts, horse shoe pits and a nine-hole disk golf course. In addition the park has camping sites with a heated bath house including showers, a playground and covered picnic shelters.
