Fishing in nearby Lake Sakakawea can reward the fisherman with one of the following fish; Walleye, Sauger, Northern Pike, Catfish, Trout and Salmon. The town has made available a cleaning station for fishermen on the West side of town. Taking the hiking trail around Sakakawea City park past the Mercer County courthouse will bring you to the Knife River Indian Village. Like many of the other towns in the area, this town affords the opportunity for bird watchers to catch a glimpse of the many species of birds which appear here from time to time.
