About the area |
Although Center is the county seat for Oliver county there are under 300 people living here. Cross Ranch State park, to the Northeast of Center, is located along the Missouri river. The park has been left in its primitive state to preserve its beauty. In the River Peoples Visitor Center you will find displays and information about the Missouri River prior to any development. There is a boat ramp in the park for those wishing to float in the river and fishermen will be delighted with the abundance of walleye, pike and bass in this section of the river. Another state park, Molander, is located to the East of Center. The Old Settlers Day celebration, sponsored by the Community club of Center, is held each June. This event is marked by a Main street carnival, wagon train, kids' parade, art show, class reunions, street dances, turkey barbecue, golf scramble and demolition derby. |
