The Giant Pumpkin festival in September is not only the place to see some of those amazing size gourds but also the time for lots of fun. There area also pumpkin deserts and and other goodies to eat, trips to the scenic overlooks by trolley and a Pumpkin Hunt in the Tetrault Woods State forest. While you are here bring your bike or your horse or just hike for a trip through the trails in the Pembina Gorge Recreation State park. A bit West of the town you will find the Frost Fire covered amphitheater which in the Summer presents musical theater shows. There is also a great lodge and ski area here with ten ski runs. With a large number of moose in the area, Walhalla the "Moose Capital of North Dakota". Hunters are also attracted to the wild turkeys, ruff grouse, waterfowl, black necked pheasant, deer and elk in the area.
