Antelope County Courthouse

THe county court and the district court are located in the Antelope County courthouse and are each in their respective Seventh judicial district of Nebraska. US 20 makes a pass through the Northern portion o f antelope county and the way meets with SR 14 which in turn meets US 275 in Neligh. SR 70 runs into the Southern part of the county and meets SR14 whereas SR running along the Eastern border of the county meets with US 275.

Antelope county consists of the towns of Brunswick, Clearwater, Elgin, Neligh, Oakdale, Orchard, Royal and Tilden of which Neligh is the county seat. The gentleman who founded the town of Neligh around 1873 gave it his name. For a long time the economy of the town was dependent on the flour mill which was built around 1880 and ran on water power. The mill remains intact to this day and should you be in the neighborhood you can tour the the mill, restored mill office, reconstructed flume and penstock and the remains of the mill dam. There is a small museum here with displays that tell the story of the mill. The Antelope County Historical museum consists of three structures; the main building, located in the old county jail, with a collection of artifacts, documents and photograph; a reproduction log cabin and the Pioneer Church. If you want to see big game from africa without running for your lif, you might want to visit the Pierson Wildlife museum in this town. The museum, located in a converted church, holds the stuffed trophies collected by a local doctor on his trips to Africa.
