*The mailing address for the county court is 1725 10th Street, Gering, NE 69341. Both the county court and the district court (Box 67) are located in the Banner County courthouse and each is in their respective Twelfth judicial district of Nebraska. Not much in the way of main roads in Banner county. SR 88 coming in from the West meets with SR 71 from the North and both run together for a short distance until SR 88 goes off to the East, each connecting with a host of minor roads throughout the county. |
About the area |
Harrisburg, the county seat, is the only town in Banner county. The Banner County Museum complex is made up of a whole group of buildings representing the history of the county. The museum building has displayed on its walls cattle brands and pictures of people and events from the early days of Banner County. The building also houses a completely furnished kitchen, living room and bedroom as well as displays of rare china and glassware, toys, clothing quilts, books, firearms and Indian arrowheads, war clubs, scrapers, knives and tomahawks. Additional buildings are the Machine shed housing a 65 hp. Case steam engine and cars, trucks and horse drawn machinery; and structures moved here from elsewhere in the county such as a sod house, log house, church, general store, schoolhouse, drug store, barn service station and bank. |
