Boyd County Courthouse

If you are looking for either the county court or the district court (Box 26), you can find them in the Boyd County courthouse and they are each part of their respective Eighth judicial district of Nebraska. Don't expect to find anything else but SR 12 which runs through the entire length of Boyd county and which meets US 281 which runs from the Northern border to the Southern border of the county; and also meets SR 11.

In the Spring of 1890 an entrepreneur set up a wagon box just to the North of present day Butte and proceeded to sell goods. This is just when the territory had been declared open for settlement. The businessman was soon joined by a partner and the two of them erected their store which was the first building in this city. They were soon joined by a blacksmith and several other businesses. However, because water could not be obtained beneath the hard ground at this location; the buildings were all moved South to the present location of the city. The Renaissance Revival building that was Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School has been converted to the Butte Community Historical center and museum. The restored Tudor style Boyd County jail, circa 1915, is another historical structure in town. For some lip smacking pancakes you will want to come to town for the annual Butte Pancake Days held in late June. There is also a Pork BBQ supper and a Spaghetti supper. You just might want to watch the Tractor Pull competition or take in some of the live musical entertainment.
