Madison County Courthouse

Where else but in the Madison County courthouse would you expect to find both the county court and the district court (Box 249). They each belong to their respective Seventh judicial district of Nebraska. US 275 cuts across the Northern part of Madison county and meets with SR 45 which runs along the western border of the county and US 81 running through the Eastern part of the county. SR 32 cuts across the southern part of the county.

This city is trying to move upwards with new facilities and plenty of recreational opportunities. To get acquainted with the area nd gain an historical perspective too; you could visit the two museums in this county. The Madison County Historical Society museum, in Madison, Is packed with exhibits and things to do. To name a few there is the Communications display, an 1880 Fire Pumper, the Northeast Nebraska Model Railroad association modular exhibit with “H-O” scale running trains, the lighted village with close to a thousand pieces and a “G” scale train which you can run, the Ertyl tractor display, vintage antiques and military items. The Elkhorn Valley museum and research center has on display the timeline of the Elkhorn River Valley, Square Turn tractor built in 1916, Dr. Verges' Medical office, Restaurant Row, the Johnny Carson gallery and uniforms and artifacts from the Civil War to the war in Afghanistan. Madison has two municipal parks which together have playground equipment, picnic tables, a swimming pool, tennis courts and baseball/softball diamonds. The First Presbyterian Church of Madison, circa 1913, closed its doors in 2006 but has since been reopened as the Historic Presbyterian Community Center for Arts & Education and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
