Rushville County Court serves as the Sheridan county court and is in the Twelfth County Court judicial district of Nebraska. SR 87 has a long way to go down sheridan county before it encounters US 20, runs with it for a few miles before continuing on its way South. US 20 in turns connects with SR 250 which runs South and meets up with SR 2 in the Southern part of the county. |

This county has been visited by the likes of Chief Crazy Horse, Buffalo Bill Cody, 'Old Jules', Bartlett Richards and Mari Sandoz. The latter was a well known author whose grave site is marked South of Gordon and whose books deal with the pioneer past. The Heritage Center Museum complex in Hay Springs includes a local school house built in 1910 and a log cabin. A second building displays artifacts and mementos of Mari Sandoz. Another interesting museum is the Scamahorn museum, in Gordon, housed in the former First Methodist Episcopal Society church, circa, 1884, which has cataloged factual stories and obituaries dating back to the settlement of the area. |
