Webster County Courthouse

If you are looking for the county court or the district court, you can find them in the Webster County courthouse. They are each in their respective Tenth judicial district of Nebraska. Both US 281 and SR 78 traverse Webster county and meet US 136 and SR 4.

Red Cloud, which was founded around 1871, was named for the Oglala Sioux Chief and around 1879 the Burlington and Missouri River railroad was constructed to the town. Although she was not born here, Willa Cather spent her childhood years in Red Cloud. The home where she spent these years has been restored and is open for tours. The Red Cloud Opera House has been renovated to appear as it did when Willa Cather visited it to see traveling productions. The annual Street Car Days festival features performances by entertainers at the city park and by the Missoula Children's Theatre at the Red Cloud Opera house in addition to activities such sand volleyball, golf, a 5k run/walk, parade, face painting & sidewalk chalk art, ice cream social, horseshoe contest, kid's fishing contest, "Little Tuggers" tractor pull and a fireman's BBQ. Imagine a huge barn approximately 130 feet in diameter and three stories high, and you will be talking about the historic Starke Round Barn held together without nails or pegs. It was built by four brothers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin between the years 1902 and 1903.
