Being only 18 miles away from Manhattan, and less than 2 miles away from the NY-NJ border, this borough is a prime location for both businesses and residential neighborhoods. There are many theories as to where the name 'Demarest' came from. One theory suggests that the name came from the French Settler David Demarest who was the first member of the Demarest family in the United States. This town has has lovely roads, picture-perfect homes and a great school district. The downtown area is particularly colorful - one can just take a walk down the downtown streets and spend a day looking at the pretty shops and the items on display.
