Considering the number of sessions for Teaneck traffic court, the police must be awful busy here. |

About the area |
It is believed that Teaneck got it's name from the Native Indian word meaning 'place where there are woods'. This town which is now home to nearly 40,00 residents, was once a thickly wooded area. Today, Teaneck is a well-developed town with all facilities imaginable. It has a high-tech hospital, 'The Holy Name Hospital', a full-fledged university 'The Fairleigh Dickinson University', several public and private schools, shopping centers, parks, private gyms and other recreational centers. The present Municipal Government Complex is a Victorian mansion that was once upon a time the home of William Walter Phelps, a Teaneck resident. There are 5 historical homes in this town. The oldest one - the Brinkerhoff-Demarest House - is said to have been built in 1720s. The town also has an excellent public library system, which just recently started scanning magazines and other literature, to make them available online. |

Two major highways, I-95 and Route 4, generate quite a bit of work on the Teaneck traffic Court calendar. Rumors of NY profiling are probably exaggerated. |
