Chesterfield has a diverse population of 6000 people. Just recently, it was voted number one in the Best Places to Live in the Philadelphia area. The township is sparsely populated and largely rural. Farming and horse-rearing are still prevelant in this township. The township is very homey with tree-lined streets and pretty dwellings. Chesterfield Elementary School serves students in grades one through six. The school has a wing dedicated in honor of Chesterfield resident Edith Sprague who was awarded the Outstanding Women in Burlington County award in 2006 for her efforts to talk about farming and agriculture all over the country. Today, she is 82 and still lectures and tours actively. She still lives in Chesterfield township, the same place where she was born and raised five kids.
