Shamong township is a sparsely populated community of over six thousand people spread over 50 square miles. The famous Indian Mills Lake is just a mile away from the courthouse. The township has a spectacular recreation complex, about 3-4 minutes driving distance from the courthouse, though few court visitors will be in the mood. Redmans Lake, Bear Pond and Shadow Lake are all in the vicinity. An active Neighbors Helping Neighbors club does a lot for those who live nearby. Routes 541, 620, 534 and US Rt 206 pass through the township.
