Nearly 3250 call the township of Springfield home. Springfield is largely rural and rather sparsely populated (it is spread over 30 square miles). Van Winkle Brook passes meanders through the township. It is believed that the stone arches around the brook date back to 1873. Baltusrol Golf Club and Rahway River Parkway are within walking distance of the courthouse. County Routes 577, 24, 124, 527 and 512 traverse the township. I-78 is nearby too.
